Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams returns to our screens this weekend.

Simon Cowell has defended the introduction of more foreign acts on Britain’s Got Talent, hailing the show’s new series as the Talent Olympics.

Talking to Dan Wootton for The Sun, Simon said: “A couple of people turned up who must have won variations of the show.

“I don’t know if there was necessarily a rule change because to be honest with you there aren’t that many rules on this show.

“Our principle has always been, within reason, anyone should be allowed to apply. “If we find someone who genuinely is fantastic and we think our audience wants to see them, then we’ll put them on. “Then it’s up to the public to decide the eventual winner.”

"When someone comes from another country with something we think our audience will love there’s no reason not to put them on.

“I like the mixture of the Brits and the rest of the world because for me it makes it more of a competition.

“I’m going to call it the Talent Olympics this year.”

In new promo photos the Britain's Got Talent judges show us their glamorous side - yes, even Simon.
