Simon Cowell shares his fear for son Eric

Simon Cowell appeared on the television show This Morning talking about his life and responsibilities as a father.

Simon and his partner Lauren Silverman welcomed Eric who now 11 years old in February 2014.

Talking to Jeff Brazier, he said he was very worried about Eric having a mobile phone..

'We're getting to a point where the word phone comes up. I'm very worried, about how much kids can see at a certain age,' he added. "I grew up, learning things at the right time, the right age. I just would be petrified of him having access to anything, that would really worry me.'

Simon also spoke about the amount of homework children come home with.

'I think schools put too much pressure on kids, which is, you're getting up at seven in the morning, you're coming home say at five, six in the afternoon, evening and then you've got to do two hours of homework.

'It's like, they're ten, 11, 12 years old. It's too much. I would say to any teacher watching, ban homework, you'll have happier kids and they'll do better.'

When asked by Jeff what he'd do if his son wanted to head in the showbiz direction, Simon said he would be "absolutely honest" with him.

“I’ve thought about this. What if he said to me, ‘I want to be a singer’ and he couldn’t sing, I would be absolutely honest with him. If he couldn’t, I would say, ‘You know what, be a drummer,'"

"He actually can play the drums well but he’s quite shy. You know, I walk and I hear him, and he stops. I say, ‘Why are you stopping?’ and he says, ‘Well, I’m a bit embarrassed’ and I say, ‘Well don’t be, you’re really good.”

Previously, Simon has spoken about how much being a dad has meant to him.

'Out of everything I've ever done in my life, this is the best thing to ever happen to me. 

'The very first time I saw his scan, I was literally obsessed.

'When he was a baby, because they don't really do anything, I'm like, 'Well why doesn't he like me?' and Lauren was going, 'He's a baby' and I didn't understand that

'Then at about a year and a half, we started to communicate, that was magic.'
