Simon Cowell Wants A Double Elimination EVERY Week On The X Factor

Simon Cowell wants to bring a double eviction nearly every week. With the live shows screening over only seven weeks this year, instead of the usual ten due to the Rugby world cup this would be be possible.

Usually we have the odd double elimination, but this year Simon belives they can concentrate on the better singers if they do a double eviction each week up until the last few shows.

An insider told The Sun: “Getting rid of two singers each week keeps jeopardy levels high and enables the show to focus on the most talented singers sooner.”

"But Xtra Factor host Rochelle Humes told The Sun: “I am not sure the contestants know yet!”

It comes after X Factor continues to be hit with criticism, most recently the format of the Judges' Houses.

ITV boss Elaine Bedell admitted changing the Judges' Houses section of X Factor to live was a mistake.

Acknowledging that the attempt to boost the ratings was a step "too far" the entertainment boss is still confident about the future of the show.

Elaine Bedell spoke at the recent Broadcast Commissioning Forum where she explained what went wrong.

"We embarked on this series wanting some changes. This is one of the issues with long-running shows - you look to them constantly to think how they can be kept on their toes," she said.

"Possibly with X Factor we went too far with the mix of live TV in the Judges' Houses episode," reported Broadcast.

"Universally on the production side we felt that it wasn't successful, but now we are back to the live shows that we know and love."
