Simon Cowell Takes Part in a Lookalike Contest For Pride of Britain

Usually Simon Cowell does the judging, not this time. Simon took part in a lookalike contest to give an amazing young fund-raiser the news that he’s won a Pride of Britain award.

George Mathias aged 11,, has raised tens of thousands of pounds for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital with his sponsored runs.

So when he was invited, along with his little brother James, six, to judge the lookalike contest as a hospital fund-raiser, he jumped at the chance.

Hosted by Diversity star Ashley Banjo, the fake competition began with a line-up of increasingly bad counterfeit Cowells before, the final contestant entered the room.

At first, George and James were dubious.

George said: "He’s quite good actually, he looks a bit like the real thing!"

But when Simon removed his trademark sunglasses, the penny finally dropped for George as he realised he was in the presence of the real deal.

“Why did it take you so long!” Simon laughed, before handing George his invite to the big night.

The Daily Mirror Pride of Britain awards are on ITV Tuesday November 7, 8pm.
