Simon Cowell Plans a Massive Shake Up For X Factor

X Factor bosses are planning a massive shake-up to the judging panel - and only Simon Cowell is safe.

In a ruthless attempt to keep in touch with rivals Strictly Come Dancing, producers are willing to do anything to bring back viewers - including axing Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Mel B and Louis Walsh .

But X Factor’s executive producer Richard Holloway speaking to The Mirror warned that huge changes will hit judges and the format.

He said: “There will be some exciting changes. The name of the show will stay the same but we are looking at format and the judges.

“There will be some surprises this year. But I can’t go into detail.”

Declaring Simon Cowell is almost certain to return, Mr Holloway would not confirm the future of the other judges.

Richard said “It is safe to say Simon is staying,”

The X Factor boss said he will me making big decisions in order to keep the show fresh and hot on the heels of Strictly, which ran away with the viewing figures last year, topping 10million for some episodes.

“We have been making the show for 10 years and to make it popular you have to refresh the show,” said Mr Holloway, the managing director of Freemantle Media.

“You need to look at every aspect and move with the times. There is an ongoing battle with Strictly. On overall volume they beat us last year. It has been a few years since we beat them on overall volume.

“It is quite interesting the split of the audience. It is very defined. “Let battle commence but we would love to beat them.”
