Sharon Osbourne is reportedly in secret talks with Simon Cowell for a sensational return to the X Factor.
Louis Walsh has made no secret of the fact he wants Sharon back and Cheryl gone if he returns.
Simon Cowell is said to be at loggerheads with ITV producers over Louis return. Louis is a great friend and Simon wants him back.
Sharon was one of the original judges on the show from 2004 to 2007, returning for one season in 2013.
If Sharon does return it would mean an exit for either Cheryl or Rita. Simon is to thrash out details of this year’s panel in a crunch meeting on Tuesday - where Louis future will be decided. Cheryl is currently in Los Angeles discussing her options with Simon.
The source told the Mirror: “No decision will be made until Simon has this meeting with a top X Factor official in LA on Tuesday.
“If Louis isn’t back on board, then Sharon won’t be. She likes the idea of the original panel and is very nervous about returning. She will only do so if Louis does too.
“Louis is desperate to get back on X Factor and he’s doing all he can to make it happen.”
An X Factor insider told the Sun newspaper: “The bosses think they made the show too young last year and having Nick Grimshaw, Rita and Cheryl on the panel was part of that.
Sharon’s an X Factor legend but when she went back for a year Simon wasn’t on the panel. Their rows are legendary and that dynamic could work well.
Last night a source close to Sharon said: “She’s had talks about going back now that Louis is likely to be back. The sticking point for her is her American chat show The Talk, which is she is committed to.
“Transatlantic flights nearly killed her last time.”
