Simon Cowell's recovery is going well, but he will be out of action for a few more months

Simon Cowell is recovering well from his back injury after falling off an electric bike, but isn't expected to return to work until next year.

Simon is having intensive physiotherapy, walking around the garden and exercising in the pool at his Malibu home.

He had hoped to be back in the UK for the Britain's Got Talent final tonight but Simon was advised not to fly back to the final by doctors. Instead he is focusing on being on being well enough for the start of filming for Britain's Got Talent next year.

A source told The Sun newspaper “Simon’s a fighter and fairly gung-ho. Naturally, he thought he’d be out of action for a few weeks and then, if not doing iron man contests, at least be back on the showbiz circuit.

“Instead, he’s had a setback from surgery to fuse two vertebrae and it has proven more complicated than a standard break.”

It was hoped that Simon might make an appearance on BGT via VT tonight, but the source added:: “Simon is joking and in decent spirits.

“But he’s also quite vain and the idea of going on national TV with no studio make-up, and while on heavy-duty medication, didn’t appeal. So, unfortunately, he had to decline producers’ requests.”

Get well soon Simon!
