Simon's Bio: "I Don't Tolerate Awfulness"

He is the music mogul who really needs no introduction – it’s Simon Cowell!

Following a long awaited return to our shores, TV supremo Simon is back at the helm of the telly extravaganza that is Britain’s Got Talent.

So, is Simon still mean these days? “I tell it like it is! I don’t tolerate awfulness. This year I’m raising the bar even higher – I want to see something that’s never been done,” he told us.

“And the panel is brilliant. David and I like to tease the girls and I’ve assumed the role of relationship coach to Alesha.”

A lover of classic attire, he also owns more than 30 black t-shirts and has elevated bluntness to an art form, earning the nickname of TV’s Mr Nasty thanks to his role as celebrity judge on American Idol, Pop Idol, The X Factor and BGT.

The A&R executive, TV producer and entrepreneur spent his childhood in Elstree and one of his earliest jobs was as a runner on cult horror film, The Shining. Simon then worked his way up the ranks, forming his own music publishing company and record label, Syco, along the way. Syco is now a global music, television and digital production company with offices in London and Los Angeles.

Simon became a household name when he appeared as a judge on TV’s Pop Idol, where his wisecracks and notoriously cutting remarks about contestants became a national talking point, gaining him fans worldwide.

A secret softie, the BGT Judge is also renowned for his charitable efforts. Simon regularly contributes to children’s hospices, as well as campaigning against animal cruelty. This brings us neatly on to the subject of dogs… “I loved The Artist and in particular it’s leading man, Uggie the dog. I’d love to turn an all-singing, all-dancing mutt into a millionaire!”
